Listener homework
From TikiPedia
So there's a big change comin' to RadioTiki for a while. After a bit of a break, the show will be going all virtual -- that is, the Tikis will be meeting electronically, rather than being in the same room. And they've asked for some help from the listeners for the best way to make it happen. This is the homework assignment they've given us. RadioTiki needs an online solution that will allow them to:
- Conference with each other online, both audibly and visually -- at least one participant should be able to play sound files (Robot Brad drops, songs, etc.) that everyone else can hear
- Stream the audio of that conference online (but not the video)
- Record that audio stream as it happens, so the resulting sound file can be edited and posted as a podcast
Please research possible solutions and send your findings to the show at radio@radiotiki.com. Remember that while many of the listeners are Mac users, the Tikis use Windows, so the solution will have to be Windows-compatible. Oh, and free. Or fairly cheap. (Although if there's a good solution, we might be able to get some listeners to kick in for it -- but use "free" as your starting point.)
Addendum
The show is now run using Skype and some software to record the Skype stream, satisfying points 1 and 3 above, so the podcast is back with us.
A solution for #2 above, thereby restoring the live show, would be welcome! (By some listeners, anyway.)
